From Shelter to Shelter
Kano, a friendly and lovable dog, found himself at DeKalb County Animal Services in Georgia. Despite his charming personality, he spent five long months waiting for a forever home. With space running out at DeKalb, Kano was moved to LifeLine Animal Project’s adoption center in Atlanta. Little did he know, this move would lead him back to where he truly belonged.
A Grandmother’s Intuition
Kano’s journey home began with a simple, yet powerful, intuition. His “grandmother,” the mother of his original owner, couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed to search for their lost pet. Her son had raised Kano from a puppy in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When he enlisted in the Army, the family had to rehome Kano, but he soon went missing. One day, driven by a gut feeling, she searched LifeLine Animal Project’s website and found Kano’s photo. She couldn’t believe her eyes – it was their beloved Kano!
The Joyful Reunion
Without wasting any time, Kano’s grandmother rushed to the shelter. When she arrived, she called out his real name, “Kano.” The moment was magical. Kano whipped his head around instantly recognizing her. Tears flowed freely as everyone witnessed this beautiful reunion.
Kano’s grandmother expressed deep regret over their separation but hoped he could feel her love. “I knew in my soul he needed me; it’s like he was calling me somehow,” she shared. “I tell him every day I’m sorry and that I love him so much.”
A New Beginning
Kano’s grandmother had recently moved to a house with a fenced backyard, perfect for Kano to play in. Although her son hadn’t seen Kano in person since the reunion, their FaceTime calls were filled with joy and love. This story is a reminder that sometimes, the journey back home is longer than expected, but it’s always worth it.
