From Scared to Smiling
Heaven’s journey began in a shelter, where she was far from the happy pup she would become. When she first arrived, she was terrified. No one knew if she had spent her whole life as a stray or if she had been abandoned. All they knew was that she needed love.

Jackie introduced her to toys, car rides, and all sorts of new experiences, and slowly but surely, Heaven’s silly side came out.

About six months after being adopted, something magical happened—Heaven smiled for the first time. And it wasn’t just any smile; it was the kind of grin that makes everyone around feel happy too. But Heaven’s smile wasn’t just a constant feature. If she was unhappy, like when she didn’t get enough treats or wasn’t thrilled with Jackie’s commands, that smile would disappear just as quickly as it came. Jackie would gently ask Heaven to look at her when she was upset, and it was easy to see just how expressive and full of personality Heaven really was.
Overcoming Fears
Heaven had another challenge to overcome—her fear of men. It was likely a result of something traumatic in her past. Whenever she was around an unfamiliar man, she would get anxious. But with time, patience, and a lot of love, Heaven was able to move past her fear. Now, she’s confident and doesn’t show a trace of that old anxiety.

Jackie and Heaven have become almost inseparable. They’ve been on adventures to 44 states together! Whether it’s a trip to the park or a drive across the country, Heaven is always ready to go, as long as she’s by Jackie’s side.
