A Lonely Dog by the Tracks
One rainy day, a woman noticed a pit bull sitting alone by a railroad track. The dog was covered in mud, soaked from the rain, and had a choke collar and chain around her neck. It was clear that this poor dog had been through a lot. But when the woman tried to approach her, the pit bull ran away, too scared to trust anyone.
The woman could see that the dog was in bad shape—starving, shivering from the cold, and utterly terrified. But she wasn’t about to give up. She knew this dog needed help, and she was determined to get her to safety.

It wasn’t easy to win Cardi’s trust. The woman called her friends, who were experienced rescuers, to help catch the frightened dog. It took four long hours, filled with patience and care, to finally get a leash around her neck. One rescuer sat down with Cardi, giving her time to calm down before trying to touch her. They didn’t want to rush anything, knowing that the dog was already so scared. A New Name and a New Life
Once they finally had Cardi safe, the rescuers gave her a name—Pittie Cardi, after the famous rapper Cardi B. It was a small but important step in giving her a new identity and a fresh start. Cardi was beginning to understand that her life was about to change, and it was all thanks to the kindness of strangers who refused to give up on her.
Finding Her Forever Family
After her rescue, Cardi was placed with a foster family. Her new foster dad could see just how scared she still was, so he decided to do something special. That first night, he laid on the floor with Cardi for six whole hours, just to be there with her, to let her know she wasn’t alone. In the morning, he looked at his wife and said, “This is my puppy.” He knew right then and there that Cardi was already part of their family.
